Before globalization and liberalization in the Asian continent, Chennai city and its surrounding areas were the largest exporters of garments. Chennai was an export garment manufacturing center during that period.Merchants in areas like Washermenpet, Royapuram used to purchase ready-made garments in bulk for export and grade them in bulk and produce them as ready-made garments and sell them to many states of India. Based on that, the market called Singarathottam was formed by itself without any planning. As the wheel of time revolved, great changes took place worldwide. As a result, in 1991, our Indian nation also adopted the economic policy of globalization and liberalization. Chennai also began to transform from an export manufacturing hub.

Our market which was formed with the support of the abundance of exports and purchased from cities like Erode, Salem, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Ichalkaranchi and produced in large quantities and started selling to many states including Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi, Assam, Nagpur. Based on that, SINGARA GARDEN , which was an export surplus market, became a surplus and product market. In this situation, the association SRMA was started in 2007 to help more than a thousand manufacturers and merchants who do surplus and trading. Since its inception, the association has won the trust of all the businessmen by its selfless work. SRMA has done the necessary work well from time to time. Served as a perfect guide and guru to businessmen from all walks of life especially in times of Vat tax, currency devaluation, GST tax regimes etc.
Namaskar,
This is the time when every entrepreneur should be aware of the drastic changes taking place in the readymade garments industry.
Small, micro and medium enterprises in particular should adopt the changes with extreme caution. Because in the next 2 decades, there will be a competition between corporate companies Versus micro, small, and medium companies. The industrial policy of the government seems to be favorable to corporate companies, while crises occur to small, micro and medium companies.
There is no chance of long-term stagnation or stagnation in the growth of the readymade garments industry. There is a high demand for goods in the market, and there is a high chance of shortage in production. The point to be mentioned is how micro, small, and medium companies are going to use the demand in the market to their advantage and travel on the growth path? That is hundreds of questions.
It is a very challenging task for small, micro, and medium enterprises to plan and progress independently. But this is easily possible with Business Associations. For this purpose, SRMA has developed an exclusive action plan. I am very happy to inform you that it is going to be successfully presented to the industry in its 3rd successful garment fair.
It is the result of three years of work by SRMA. After this submission, all the members will get specific development in the field of business.
Very soon in our successful 3rd garments fair……….
Eagerly
Secretary
SRMA.
